Build for different ways of using the web.
Build a usable structure
Use meaningful headings, descriptive links and labels associated with their controls. Provide text alternatives that explain an image’s purpose; decorative images should not interrupt the reading experience.
Check beyond appearance
Try keyboard navigation, visible focus and text enlargement. Review colour contrast and avoid making colour the only way to convey a state. Automated checks can find some problems, but they do not replace human review.
Use a primary reference
The W3C Web Accessibility Initiative provides introductory guidance and links to current standards. Consult the applicable requirements for your project rather than treating this overview as a compliance certificate.
